Description

This Blueberry Bread Pudding is a comforting and indulgent dessert that combines soft, custardy bread with juicy, bursting blueberries. Perfect for family gatherings, brunch, or a cozy weeknight treat, this recipe is easy to make yet impressively flavorful. Golden on top with a creamy center, each bite is filled with sweet, fresh blueberries and a hint of warm cinnamon. Whether served warm straight from the oven or lightly chilled, this pudding brings together classic comfort and a touch of elegance, making it a favorite dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

6 cups cubed stale brioche or French bread

1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries

2 cups whole milk

1/2 cup heavy cream

3/4 cup granulated sugar

4 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

Optional: powdered sugar or vanilla glaze for topping

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.

3. Add the cubed bread to the custard mixture and let it soak for 10–15 minutes, pressing down lightly to ensure the bread absorbs the liquid.

4. Gently fold in the blueberries, taking care not to break them.

5. Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle a little sugar on top for a golden crust.

6. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is just set.

7. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

8. Optional: dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with vanilla glaze before serving.

Notes

Use slightly stale bread for the best texture, as it soaks up the custard without becoming mushy.

Frozen blueberries can be used if fresh ones aren’t available; do not thaw before adding.

Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Reheat in the oven at 325°F for 10–15 minutes or in the microwave for a single serving.

You can freeze portions for up to one month, maintaining flavor and texture.

Optional: add a drizzle of vanilla glaze or a sprinkle of powdered sugar for extra sweetness and presentation.
