Description

A golden flaky crust encases tender chicken, mixed vegetables, and a silken herb-seasoned sauce in this comforting American classic. Made with 8 simple ingredients and ready in 75 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

14.1 oz refrigerated pie crusts (2 rolled-out crusts)
1/3 cup butter or olive oil (for halal kitchens)
1/3 cup chopped onion (or 1.5 tsp dried onion)
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp chicken seasoning
2 cups chicken broth (unsalted)
2 cups frozen mixed vegetables
1 cup milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C)
Roll out one pie crust and press into a 9-inch dish
In a large skillet, heat butter/olive oil then sauté onion until translucent
Add flour and whisk to form a paste
Gradually stir in chicken broth until smooth
Add frozen vegetables, chicken seasoning, milk, salt, and pepper; simmer 5 minutes
Pour filling into prepared crust
Top with second rolled-out crust
Trim edges and crimp to seal
Cut slits in top crust
Bake 40-45 minutes until golden brown

Notes

For halal kitchens, substitute butter with olive oil
Vegetables work best thawed slightly before adding to sauce
Let crust edges air-dry 5 minutes before placing on rack to avoid sogginess
